Lu Bingheng, born on February 5, 1945 in Bozhou City, Anhui Province, is an expert in mechanical engineering, academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, professor and doctoral supervisor of Xi'an Jiaotong University, director of the National Additive Manufacturing Innovation Center and director of the China Additive Manufacturing Standards Committee.
Lu Bingheng graduated from Hefei University of Technology with a bachelor's degree in 1967, and then worked in Sanmenxia Zhongyuan Measuring Instrument Factory. In 1979, he was admitted to Xi'an Jiaotong University as a postgraduate majoring in mechanical manufacturing and automation. After obtaining a master's degree in engineering in 1982, he stayed in Xi'an Jiaotong University to teach. In 1986, he obtained a doctor's degree in engineering from Xi'an Jiaotong University. From 1992 to 1994, he went to the University of Michigan in the United States as a senior visiting scholar and did some cooperative research there. From 1992 to 1994, he served as the dean of the Department of Xi'an Jiaotong University. In 2005, he was elected as an academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering.
Lu Bingheng is mainly engaged in the research of rapid prototyping manufacturing, micro-nano manufacturing, bio-manufacturing, high-speed cutting machine and so on.
