The Department of Mechanical Design Engineering is composed of the Teaching and Research Office of Mechanical Principle Parts, which was established in 1945, and the Teaching and Research Office of Mechanical Design, which was founded in 1977 and enrolled the first batch of students majoring in mechanical design in China,which was merged in 2008. Our department is also an important component of the national key discipline "Mechanical Design and Theory" at our university, being the only unit in this discipline that caters to undergraduate students.

Our department has a reasonable age structure of professors, associate professors as the main force of teaching and research teachers. At present, there are a total of 30 teachers, including 4 doctoral supervisors, 10 professors, 14 associate professors, and 23 individuals with doctoral degrees holders. Our department is primarily responsible for the whole school's Mechanical Principle, Mechanical Design, and the fundamentals of Mechanical Design, as well as the professional and practical teaching of mechanical design module for undergraduates majoring in the Mechanical Design, Manufacturing, and Automation major at our university. Additionally, we are involved in the training of doctoral and postgraduate students majoring in mechanical design and theory.
