On March 13, 2023, the school invited Professor Wangbiao Wang of Tianjin University and Shuqin Wang, the editor-in-chief of "Journal of Mechanical Engineering", to come to the school for exchange and visit and give a report. More than 200 people including Zhifeng Liu, the vice president of the University, Bin Zi, the dean of the school, Haihong Huang and Lei Zu, the deputy deans, some professors, young teachers and graduate students of the school attended the report meeting.

Professor Guobiao Wang gave a wonderful and detailed report to the participating teachers and students titled "The current status of basic research in the mechanical engineering discipline of Hefei University of Technology from the perspective of data". Professor Guobiao Wang introduced the funding situation and development trends of basic research in major countries and regions in the world from an international perspective. He focused on analyzing the fund applications and funding status of our school and mechanical engineering disciplines in the past thirty years, and affirmed our school. The current status and achievements of basic research in the discipline of mechanical engineering are discussed, and suggestions for the next development are given. The young teachers attending the meeting had heated discussions and exchanges with Professor Guobiao Wang on issues such as the condensation of scientific issues and the development planning of young teachers.

Qiang Zhang, the deputy editor of the Journal of Mechanical Engineering, introduced the development history and context of international and domestic scientific journals to the teachers and students of the college in detail, and introduced the development of the Journal of Mechanical Engineering in recent years. Specific suggestions and detailed guidance are given on how graduate students can quickly enter the topic and write high-level research papers. Finally, deputy editor Qiang Zhang introduced how to conceive, organize and write academic papers from the perspective of improving the dissemination of papers. The participating graduate students had in-depth exchanges with the deputy editor Qiang Zhang on paper writing and publication.

After the report meeting, Professor Guobiao Wang, the Editor-in-Chief Shuqin Wang and his party held discussions and exchanges with the Vice President Zhifeng Liu, the school leadership team, and professor representatives. They further conducted in-depth discussions based on the college's discipline construction and scientific research status, and pointed out the direction for the college's discipline development.
